Mayor's Remarks

Mayor John D. Craig elected as the 5th Mayor of Blacks Harbour in May 2021.

Mayor Craig brings experience to the newly elected Council serving 11 years as Mayor of Saint Andrews from 2001 to 2012 . He also previously served 3 years on Saint Andrews Town Council from 1998 to 2001.
Mayor Craig currently holds the honor of being the first person to hold the position of Mayor in 2 different communities in New Brunswick.
In the 2021 municipal election Mayor Craig's council is formed by all new members except for Deputy Mayor Adam Hatt.
Mayor Craig has called Blacks Harbour home since leaving office in 2012 but has worked in the Village since 1988.
Housing, roads and recreation will hold a top priority as the Village will be the desired place for people to choose as their home in the coming years.

In 1972 Premier Richard Hatfield announced that Blacks Harbour was an incorporated Village in the Province of New Brunswick. Next year, 2022, will mark 50 years of that announcement. That will be a milestone year to celebrate our history, our heritage and  beauty of the wonderful place we call home. It will also be a time to celebrate the next 50 years when Blacks Harbour will have many more people calling this their home in the next few years.
